The Definition of Health

-

Health is defined as “a complete state of physical and emotional well-being” and is a key component in achieving an active and longer life. In addition, a person’s health is affected by the environment and behaviors. For example, poor access to nutritious foods increases the risk of chronic illnesses. Similarly, unhealthy behavior such as smoking, alcohol consumption and risky sexual behavior can impact the body’s physical and mental health.

Health Organization

The definition of health has evolved over time. Today, there are three main types of health definitions. First, the World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a resource to support wider society. It also defines health as an individual’s state of functioning, functioning within a specified range of values, and the absence of a disease. a person’s health is affected by the environment and behaviors.

Using the WHO’s definition, health is seen as a positive state. In fact, people are born with a variety of genetic markers that determine their overall physical and emotional health. However, environmental and lifestyle triggers can affect the health of individuals with higher genetic risk. Hence, there is a need to consider the context of a person’s disease.

Conclusion

A third definition of health includes a focus on a person’s ability to adapt to changes in the environment. This is in contrast to the first two definitions, which emphasize a lack of disease. Rather than an attempt to eliminate disease, it is a goal of healthy lifestyles to allow individuals to live a full, productive, and satisfying life.
